About

I think about how people make sense of the world by interacting with information. Especially digital information.

I teach information architecture and user experience design at Kent State University.

My research interests include information architecture and how people interact with information--mostly in relation to digital libraries.

I was an information architect before I became a professor. For a while, I worked at the pioneering information architecture firm Argus Associates.

I'm a founding member of the Information Architecture Institute.

I'm Canadian. I grew up in rural Saskatchewan. I've lived in Saskatoon, Vancouver, Ann Arbor, and London. I currently live in Kent, Ohio.

My grandmother is micro-famous among tea-lovers in Boston.
